The LTGDC Art Strategy emerged from muf’s work in Hackney Wick and Fish Island from 2007 onwards and is one of a series of projects focussed on how to sustain the artist community and ensure mutual benefit for all the constituents of the area.

on how to sustain the artist community and ensure mutual benefit for all the constituents of the area.

The role of the artist community in the future development was explored through a strategy to ‘home grow’ public art through a temporary program of commissions to support and provoke a dialogue between the local interested parties, the artists, the planners, the residents, the businisses and the developers.

The temporary commissions explicitly addressed the role of art in social connectivity and “joining up” currently isolated and/or disparate communities.
